History of the Group

From our first meeting in 2012 to supporting families across the West Midlands and beyond.

  1. Today — Hybrid Support

We now run both face-to-face and virtual meetings, covering South Staffordshire and the wider West Midlands. We attended Warwick Pride and Chase Pride, and continue supporting families across the region.

  2. Adapting Through COVID

We moved to virtual meetings during COVID, continuing to support families through Zoom. We never stopped being there for people who needed us.

  3. Growing Across the Region

The group continued to grow, attending Birmingham and Coventry Pride. New venues were added to cover a bigger area, with locations near Cannock and Wolverhampton.

  4. Becoming Independent

After Gender Matters ended, the group continued independently. We found new locations, developed promotional materials, sought funding, set up a bank account, built our website and social media presence.

  5. Founded with Gender Matters

Originally set up by volunteers and supported by the charity Gender Matters, based in Compton, Wolverhampton. Our very first meeting was held, and we've met monthly (except August and December) ever since.
